What happens if I have county court judgements (CCJs)?
If a lender has taken out a county court judgement against you, this normally means that you have either not paid back money on a previous loan or credit agreement or you have received goods from an organisation that you have not paid for.
There are some lenders who will still give you a loan despite a judgement against you but they will ask for a greater level of detail about you and will USUALLY charge you a higher less competitive rate of interest.
It is worth thinking about whether you should be seeking to take out another loan or credit agreement if you are in the habit of not paying them back. Eventually a creditor COULD send a bailiff around to your home to make you pay or repossess any of your worldly possessions of equal value to the outstanding debt. This means that you could get a knock at your front door one morning at dawn and the bailiff has the right granted by a court of law to enter your home and seize the television or drive away in your car.
And remember, you will also end up having to pay the bailiff's cost for the pleasure.
